Step beyond the forest trails and into the heart of Nkuringo village with our guided community walks, offered exclusively to guests of Orugano Bwindi Lodge. Led by experienced local guides, these immersive journeys begin at 9:00 AM (or earlier on request), right from the lodge doorstep.
As the village awakens, you’ll wander along scenic paths that wind between hillside homes overlooking the magnificent Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The sound of morning birdsong mingles with cheerful greetings from local children, offering a genuine glimpse into the warmth and rhythm of village life.
Your walk includes visits to family homesteads, where you can observe and learn about daily routines such as traditional cooking, coffee processing, water collection, and subsistence farming. You will also have the chance to witness traditional sorghum beer brewing, meet a local blacksmith crafting tools by hand, and spend time at the Women’s Craft Center, where artisans create beautiful handmade souvenirs that support their families and preserve local heritage.
More than just a walk, this experience is a heartfelt connection to the people, culture, and traditions that make Nkuringo such a vibrant part of the Bwindi community.
