Your Itinerary In Brief
Your Itinerary Details
DAY 1: Arrival & The Prehistoric Shoebill
our 5-Day Uganda Primate Safari begins at Entebbe International Airport, where a private Orugano guide will greet you. Depending on your arrival time, we recommend a private boat excursion to the Mabamba Wetlands. Here, you can search for the legendary Shoebill Stork, a prehistoric-looking bird that is a bucket-list item for many travelers. If you prefer to rest, enjoy a quiet walk through the Entebbe Botanical Gardens or a sunset over Lake Victoria before your morning flight.
DAY 2: Flight to Kasese & The Chimpanzee Realm
Skip the 7-hour drive and enjoy a 1-hour scenic flight to Kasese. From the air, you’ll see the diverse landscapes that make Uganda the “Pearl of Africa.” Upon landing, you’ll head into the forest for a Luxury Uganda Safari highlight: Chimpanzee Trekking. Observing these playful and intelligent primates as they swing through the canopy is a thrilling experience. Spend the night at a premium lodge nearby, resting up for your journey to the mountain gorillas.
DAY 3: Flight to Kisoro & The Orugano Welcome
Today, take a breathtaking domestic flight to Kisoro. This region is famous for its dramatic volcanic peaks and rolling green hills. A 1.5-hour scenic drive brings you to Orugano Bwindi Lodge, your eco-luxury sanctuary nestled against the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Spend the afternoon at the lodge; perhaps join our flora expert, Sungura Kenneth, to learn about our forest regeneration projects, or simply enjoy a sundowner with views of the Virunga Mountains.
Day 4: The Ultimate Encounter: Gorilla Trekking Uganda
As the centerpiece of your 5-Day Uganda Primate Safari, today is dedicated to the mountain gorillas. After a gourmet breakfast by Chef Herbert, you’ll head to the park headquarters. Guided by expert Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, you’ll trek through the dense, misty forest until you find your assigned gorilla family. Spending one hour in their presence is a profound experience that stays with you forever. Return to the lodge for a celebratory dinner and a warm fire at our lounge.
Day 5: Choose Your Scenic Exit
On the final day of your 5-Day Uganda Primate Safari, you have two exclusive choices for your departure:
- Option A: Fly back to Entebbe for a final day-room stay and souvenir shopping before your international flight.
- Option B: Take a scenic 4-hour drive across the border to Kigali, Rwanda. This is a fantastic way to see the “Land of a Thousand Hills” before departing from Kigali International Airport.
